The William H. Thompson Scholars Learning Community (TSLC)
In 2008, The Susan T. Buffett Foundation initiated the William H. Thompson Scholars Learning Community (TSLC) at the University of Nebraska System. The Learning Community was named in honor of William H. Thompson, the father of Susan T. Buffett, who served as Professor of Psychology and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Omaha University, now known as the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO). Students who receive the Susan T. Buffett Scholarship and attend UNK, UNL, or UNO will automatically participate in TSLC. No additional paperwork is required when completing the scholarship application.
Designed to help students get the most from their university experience, the Thompson Scholars Learning Community offers students a variety of academic and social support. Tailored to the needs and resources of each individual campus, the Learning Community provide important benefits like:
- Positive interaction with other Thompson Scholars
- Ongoing counseling and advisement
- Faculty interaction, support and tutoring
- Additional student, faculty and university activities
